5 Simple Strategies for Optimizing Your Pet Sitter Website
Why PetSitter 365?
The online landscape for pet sitters has changed… dramatically!
10 years ago, all you had to do was throw up a web page – talk a little bit about pet sitting and viola – you would show up online.
Not so much anymore.
Nowadays, technology companies like Rover.com and Yelp are dominating the search engine results pages and are pushing independent pet sitters onto page 2, page 3 and off into search oblivion.
It’s not just websites either. The technology companies are thriving in all areas of digital marketing for one reason and one reason alone …
They have professional marketers on staff that are working hard to make sure they stay on Page 1. If you want to compete with them online, you need to have professional marketing people as well.

Who We Are
Petsitter 365 is the brainchild of Black Dog Marketing CEO, Mike Linville. Mike is a former United States Marine that served overseas during Desert Storm. After the war, Mike went back to school and graduated from the University of California at Davis with degrees in Electrical Engineering and Materials Science.
Today, Mike runs three different marketing companies and holds certifications in MANY online marketing topics (see below).
“I started building websites as a way to pay bills while I was in college and realized that I liked web work more than I liked the engineering so I just stayed with it. I started my first business in the back of a construction warehouse in 1998 and haven’t looked back since.”

Online Marketing Philosophy
When it comes to online marketing, there are a lot of different opinions on the “best” way to build your company presence. After designing, developing and executing thousands of websites and online marketing plans over the past 21+ years – these are the rules that we’ve come up with to provide pet sitters with the best performing marketing at a fraction of the cost.
- I believe in the 80/20 RULE – The 80/20 rule. Also called the Pareto Principle for you nerds out there, states that you get 80% of your results from 20% of your effort. How many of you feel like it’s the other way around? All the work with no results? The key for smart marketers is to know what 20% to invest in.
- DATA is greater than just about anything else. I realize that a lot folks like to work off of gut instinct and I feel like are times when that is the appropriate test – testing the safety of a situation, meeting new people, etc but when we’re talking about online marketing – – data is how we know what 20% to focus on.
- There are always AT LEAST 2 audiences for your website – Website visitors & Search Engines.
- ALWAYS, serve the search engines first.
